Lots of good news!

Spencer had his Asthma/Allergy check up yesterday and he has been doing very well.  The doctor even hinted that we may be able to adjust his asthma meds down this summer.  Excellent news!

More good news-- we booked our next family vacation to Disney!  Mom and Dad rented a big house in Kissimmee and we will take the boys to all the parks that week. Will and his son are joining us this time so it will be a nice, big family vacation!
Now, we have to buckle down and start saving $$$! Spencer and I started our vacation fund this week....The hundred was left over from my Vegas winnings (love the roulette tables!) and Spencer added one of his dollars. Well.....it's a start!

Don't worry-It builds character!

Spencer and IV's indoor soccer league is not for sissies.  I don't care if you are a 68 pound 3rd grader-- you will be matched with a team of big honking 7th and 8th graders.  And the parents will look on with trepidation and fear, thinking "why in the hell......"
We were shalaqued 12-2.  BUT.... it wasn't a shut out.  AND the boys got good exposure to higher competitive play.

You want fries with that?

Tonight was Trinity Elementary night at East Coast Wings.  Normally, dinner at the E.C Dub is always good, but tonight Mom got a little something extra.  Somehow, my brother over-squeezed the ketchup and it exploded--all over the table, all over mom, her clothes, the floor, her pants, even her glasses. She looked like she had been stabbed about 50 times. According to Mom, our laughing was extremely helpful as she tried to clean up......

Mmmmmm...Mama Dip's!

This weekend, my sweet State guy went with me to Chapel Hill.  We shopped at U-Mall, spent hours in A Southern Season and topped the evening off with a big meal at Mama Dip's that would make any cardiologist curse.

Our meal at Mama Dip's was wonderful.  I have one of her cookbooks, but have never ventured into her recipes. Most of them make Paula Deen look like a health nut.  Will and I had fried chicken, pulled pork, ribs, fried green tomatoes, corn, collard greens, fried okra, biscuits, yeast rolls, and mashed potatoes.

We didn't have room for dessert, but we did a damn good job of being in the clean plate club!

Saying Goodbye

Today was the funeral for one of my good friends, coworkers, and long time Mobile Meals partner, Nancy Evans.  She was only 55--- way too young to leave. She had a post surgery clot that claimed her life on New Years Eve.

Nancy was a friend and like a big sister who I have known since 1992. She mentored me in easy and fun stuff--like cooking and shopping.  She coached me through the hard things like losing grandparents and divorce. She was an amazing "giver" in the community and role model. I am going to miss her so much--and hope I can live my life like she did and be remembered for giving to others.

Welcome 2010!

We celebrated New Years Eve per tradition at Mom and Dad's house.  Everyone brought appetizers, we played Apples to Apples, had a few drinks and laughed and laughed...

Happy New Year everyone!
