Valentines for Spencer

Cleaning out Spencer's backpack this weekend I found his folder for Valentine's Day.

I laughed. Hard.

According to Spencer, the teacher told them to decorate it with what they think Valentine's Day means....

Check out the girl radiating hearts chasing an obviously unhappy boy.
Quite insightful for 10 years old, right?

It's About Time!

Big props to Chik Fil A and Heinz for FINALLY embracing ketchup-lover packaging.
Ketchup packets are such a waste.  Do you know anyone who uses only one of the packets at a time?
Of course not.  So you have to spend the first few minutes of your meal tearing those tiny packets open and you end up with a HUGE pile of waste and a LITTLE pile o' ketchup. And when they finally came out with larger sized packets, what did they put in them? Mayonnaise.  Those condiment jerks!

So now, Heinz has packets that you can either open up for dipping stuff into---or you can tear the end and squeeze the contents onto your food.  It works perfectly! *****Internet High 5!!*****

Reason # 483 why I should work on my scrapbooks

Check out this picture from 1983:

Sorry it is so blurry- my scanner isn't working so this is a picture of an old picture.
But TOTALLY blog worthy!

  • On the left is my Aunt Charlotte. She's laughing really hard and if my little brother wasn't in this picture I bet she just launched a spicy innuendo. Aunt Charlotte made "that's what she said" jokes waaaaaaayyyy before Michael Scott. I'm digging her Delta Burke/Designing Women hair, right?
  • Beside Charlotte, is her husband , Slim.  Even as Slim aged and packed on some weight....we still called him Slim.
  • Front and center is my Grandma--and my little brother, Jimmy.  Yes, Little Jimmy and Spencer look a lot alike! His toothless laugh cracks me up.
  • And the pièce de résistance of this picture:  My Mom and Dad.  Dad has the Eddie Rabbitt bouffant going on and my Mom is rocking an ET shirt. And no she is not wearing a helmet...that's her hair.
And now your Friday is complete!

"We cannot really love anybody without whom we never laugh." - Alice Reppler

Our Valentine's Weekend was filled with lots of laughs and love!
We started on Friday afternoon...and celebrated all weekend!

Most of the weekend was filled with soccer games as Spencer had the Jack Frost Tournament here in Trinity. The early morning games were colder than a brass toilet seat in the Yukon--but at least we had a beautifully sunny weekend!

We gave Valentine's goodies to our friends and family and our doggies got treats and a new tug toy.
We had special date nights each evening -- We went to High Point Theater to see the comedy:  Dr. Etta, Family Specialist!, we rented movies, we broke open that bottle of limoncello we purchased at Epcot Italy, and on Valentine's Day we got our marriage license and had a nice meal at a new Thai restaurant in High Point.

Now that Valentine's is over...the count down is officially on-- one month until we are married!

Shhh! The Commercials are on!

Every year, we celebrate Melissa's birthday on SuperBowl Sunday.  We fix her favorite snacks and we all pile into Mom and Dad's living room to watch the big game....and the big commercials!

I get it naturally

I was working on my Disney pictures for a digital scrapbook and I came to this picture:

Wait--let me explain.
We were sitting in a common area waiting for Spencer and IV to ride the Aerosmith Rock 'n' Roller Coaster for the 10th time that morning at Disney Hollywood Studios. A little kid (maybe 8 or 9 years old) came running through carrying what looked to be a strawberry milkshake.  The little doofis tripped and dropped his entire treat right in front of us.  (Don't worry, he was fine.) But did we feel bad for the little kid?
Oh No!
As soon as he dusted himself off and ran away, my dad jumps up and poses over the spilled milkshake pretending to hurl
The people walking by were giving us horrible looks as we all sat there giggling and snapping pictures as that poor man was obviously sick....

So knowing I inherited my warped sense of humor, you can understand why I laughed hysterically at this picture:
