Speaking of little pricks....

Spencer had his first blood draw today. Well he had it done as an infant--but this was his first time as a kid. They put a layer of lidocaine on his arms so that the skin is numb. Then we had a normal allergy/asthma appointment during which Spencer obsessed with the see-through lidocaine bandaids.

Mr. Spencer talked a big game and promised not to be scared for the blood test but when it came time, anxiety hit. He kept holding his chest and wiggling his feet back and forth--a couple of big tear drops fell--but he asked the nurse to just get it over with. When the needle went in, he said, "Is that it? That didn't hurt!" They took two vials and then put a bandaid on-which he has worn all evening like a medal of honor.

What I love is that you a)took your camera with you to the DOCTOR, and b) then proceeded to take pictures. Spencer has his own paparazzi! LOL. I am curious as to what you told the nurse? I like thinking about her going home that night..."honey, some woman came in with a serious camera and took pictures of her kid getting his blood drawn! I have seen everything!"
Hee hee. You know I love ya. And hugs to Spencer...I HATE having my blood drawn-I want some of that lidocaine next time! They have never even offered that to me!!

What a brave little little guy. I just had Max giving the whole story today about a needle he got yesterday too! Thankfully they forget quickly! Hats off Mom for getting the photos! Love that you took your camera! LOL

Oh man I wish they'd give me some of that Lidocaine stuff - what a brave man he is :) I can imagine the scrutiny I'd be under if I tried to take a photo somewhere like this - apart from that, the girls would never forgive me ROFL
